The Dragon at Sheraton Taipei Hotel

Superb Cantonese cuisine and the incomparable Palace Dinner are the hallmarks of The Dragon, Taipei’s premier Cantonese restaurant. Whether its dim sum or succulent seafood, The Dragon is the place to enjoy the best in Chinese cuisine.

Uncle Chris heard that I wanted to taste local cuisine so on our last night in Taipei, he took us to one of the best Chinese restaurant ( for him ) in Taipei. He definitely ordered a lot of pretty peculiar dishes for me to try on..

STEWED BEEF TENDON ( AUSTRALIAN BEEF ) NT$200

I just don't like tendons. I prefer the solid meat part of the beef.

SHREDDED HUNDRED LEAVES TOFU NT$150

The tofu had a texture of a boiled egg whites drizzled with soya sauce. The taste was alright.

CUCUMBER AND GREEN BEAN NOODLE SALAD NT$150

This dish reminds me of the Rouyuan I had at Shilin Night Market. Instead of pork, it was filled with cucumber.

SHREDDED PORK EARS IN CHILI OIL NT$200

Too spicy! I didn't really taste it well.

STIR-FRIED RIVER EEL WITH GINGER AND GARLIC NT$520

Pretty good. It had no slimy feeling. Good to be eaten with rice.

SMOKED VEGETARIAN ROLLS NT$150

This is the same fried bean curd with vegetable fillings we have back here in Manila ( but plated differently ). Yummy!

STIR-FRIED SHRIMP W/ PEAS NT$680

My most favorite dish of the night. I love the fresh shrimps with the popping texture of the peas.

BRAISED PORK KNUCKLE W/ ROCK SUGAR, SERVED W/ STEAMED BUNS NT$220

I DO NOT like braised pork skin! It tasted like sweetened piece of fat. I just chewed the white bun and gave the pork knuckle skin to the companion. ( I KNOW! I cannot be a food critic because I'm soooo picky with food! )

WOK-FRIED SHREDDED BEEF W/ PICKLES ( TAIWAN BEEF ) NT$420

Another spicy dish. I couldn't take the spiciness so I was not able to taste it properly.

SALTY PORK W/ BEAN CURD SOUP IN CLAY POT NT$480

Good broth.

SWEETENED RED BEAN PANCAKES NT$320

Can I add I do not like red beans? :D And since I was too full from sampling the other 10 dishes, I skipped this.

Can you say we had the most weird  exotic dishes for dinner?!

Have A Lovely Day!
