Wildflour Cafe + Bakery, Fort Bonifacio

During our little baby shower party for Val a couple of weeks ago ( which happened at Apartment 1B ), Em happily gave us shout out invites for her birthday celebration to happen the week after. The girls and I suggested Wildflour as the venue because of the great reviews we've been hearing about it to which Em agreed upon. 


Ceej and I arrived first and the cafe, as I expected, was packed with people at 12:30 pm. I don't really mind waiting for seats, in fact, I feel more excited if the restaurant has a waiting time because it means they really serve good food. Since all the tables were taken inside, they gave us a long table to accommodate our party of 6 outside. First thing I noticed was the menu the waitstaff placed on our table. The paper was crumpled with a few spots of sauces splattered all over. Hmmm... Again, I'm not really the maarte type but it would have been nice for a nice cafe like this to give out new printouts of the menu to new customers.

 COMPLIMENTARY BREAD

The bread had a nice crust and the butter they served was very good.

While waiting for the others, Ceej and I ordered this famous Tarte to munch on because we were starving! True to all of the reviews everyone is raving, this pie was absolutely delicious. My only concern was the size. It may look big in this picture but the actual size is just the same as 1/2 crosswise pad.

 CROQUE MADAME P420

When everyone arrived 20 minutes later, we started to order. Ceej got the Ham, Gruyere, and fried egg sandwich. Again, everyone let me taste their entrees so that I can write my opinion of them here. The Croque was very tasty and cheesy! The taste for me is very similar to my favorite Croque Madame from Bizu but this one has an added bonus of egg on top.

 RED SNAPPER P590

I ordered this because someone already got the Croque and the Beef Short Ribs that everyone keeps saying are the best. This is asparagus, brown butter, lemon, capers with Red Snapper. It tasted just like a normal pan fried fish. When the girls tasted it, they said it was malansa ( fishy ). We had it returned and changed to another Beef Short Ribs order. I rarely send back orders but since this dish is kinda pricey, the girls insisted to have it returned.

BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIB P795

Braised beef short ribs, mashed potatoes, red wine sauce. The beef was tender. The mashed potatoes were too mashed to the point it just tasted like a liquid sauce! You can finished this dish in 4 bites. It was THAT SMALL!

 CALIFORNIA BURGER P450

Val's hubby got this. Beef burger on Brioche Bun with cheddar and caramelized onions. Just a normal restaurant quality burger.

 MACARONI AND CHEESE P280

Gruyere and cheddar cheeses are used. All the girls unanimously said Apartment 1B's Mac and Cheese version is still better than this one.

 OLIVE OIL POACHED TUNA SANDWICH P310

Kat's order. Since she was the last to arrived, she got this. Our orders by the way took 5 to 10 minutes apart when they were serving it. So when Ceej and Em were done eating, the rest of our orders were just being served to us. The waitstaff were very nice though. I give them that!

Despite of the moderately tasting meals, the desserts Wildflour has were all fabulous.

Overall, I will NOT return to this restaurant anymore. The food was so-so although the desserts were good but I can have those desserts at any of the specialty pastry shops found elsewhere. I was not blown away with the food and with its higher price range, I was expecting better.

PS. Better do something about the gazillion of flies outside the restaurant. They were flying and landing everywhere on our food.

    1. Hi Anon! It makes me wonder why all the reviews out there said this cafe is a " must dine " place but my friends and I definitely do not agree. And imagine eating at a fancy cafe then while eating flies are swarming your food and even going to your face. It was pretty annoying!

  3. I guess that's where they got the name "Wild"flour kasi maraming flies..its like dinning in the "wild"..lolz..The photos do look pretty delish or maganda lang kasi ang presentation..~

    1. Oo nga! Napakawild naman nun. Yes, the presentation of the food were pretty chichi but the taste were not good.

  5. I agree...it's so over hyped. Price of their food is comparable to a 5 star hotel. I would rather eat and dine in an elegant hotel lobby in Makati.

  7. Reading all the reviews, 80% are saying the taste are so so and over price. Other say bad service pa daw. I hope they improved coz 1 year na sila. Anyway thanks for the wonderful review. Now i know what to expect in the food if someone will invite me to eat here.

    1. Hello there Samatis! Sorry for the late response. :D well yeah until now meron pa rin ako naririnig na medyo bad service? I haven't went back so I dont really know the status of the restaurant as of now. Haha :D Anyway I will probably go back sometime soon to try the cronuts everyone is raving about pero take out nalang siguro! :P
