Abe's Farm at Magalang, Pampanga

Last Black Saturday, Rin-Rin's friends went to visit us in Angeles. Whenever friends and relatives from Manila come here, we always bring them to Abe's Farm for a good Kapampangan feast. Good thing it was opened and we were asked to go there at 2 pm because the receptionist said the place was packed.

"Abé’s Farm is named after Emilio Aguilar Cruz, esteemed writer, artist, bon vivant and food lover and father of Larry J. Cruz. He was “Abé” to his peers, a Capampangan term which means friend." - Source

We reserved a full room because we were a lot.

Our luncheon feast:

FRESH DALANDAN JUICE

Half of us, including me, had this. Very refreshing.

FRESH TAMARIND SHAKE

Half ( mostly the grown ups ) had this.

PACO FERN AND TOMATO SALAD P155

Young rainforest fern with tomato in a light salad dressing. All the guests love this!

GISING-GISING P240

A choice of minced stalk of kangkong à la Bistro Remedios or red hot chilli peppers simmered in coconut milk. Rin-Rin's favorite.

SPICY SIZZLING SISIG PAMPANGA P195

Minced pork jowl and chicken livers sautéed in garlic, spices, and chilies. This was good but I still prefer the version with mayo at Cafe Juanita.

GUISADONG MUSTASA P245

Sauteed native mustard leaves with shrimp and tomatoes. The mustard leaves was not bitter at all.

BINUKADKAD NA PLA-PLA P395

A Bistro Remedios original, overgrown tilapia butterflied and fried to delightful crispiness. Fried to perfection!

SINIGANG NA BANGUS SA SAMPALOK P395 & SINUAM OF FRESH NATIVE CORN P95/CUP

Another style of sinigang with Bangus belly, crushed guava fruit, and sour broth while the other one is minced and sautéed fresh young corn in a light broth. I had the corn soup. It was sweet and creamy.

DINUGUAN AT PUTO P195

Classic pork innards blood stew served with rice cakes.

KNOCKOUT KNUCKLES P595

Crispy pata with special spicy garlic topping. Everyone attacked the skin first and left the meat for take out.

With Rin's pretty girl friends.

There were a lot of people from Manila who came to Abe's Farm and spent the night there. Abe's Farm has cottages inside which you can rent. There's no internet connection because all the cellular sites are bad in this area. So one can probably come here to relax, sleep, and maybe do some personal retreat.

Have A Lovely Day!

  3. Terrific concept with interesting cuisine; I wonder if the cottages have air conditions?

    1. That's a very good question. The restaurant does not have air conditioners but the cottages do have air cons. :D
