MRE Menu 7 Brisket Entree

I'm so excited to blog this that even at my most sluggish state of mind, I pulled myself together and opened my dusty laptop to post this! A friend gave me this weird looking package of food to try and review. Upon reading the label, I have found out that this is the AUTHENTIC US military food for US war soldiers on field. 

HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! 

MRE stands for Meal, Ready-to-Eat and is currently the main individual operational ration for the U.S. military. MREs are meant to be completely self-contained meals that provide all the nutrition a solider-on-the-go needs to sustain him/herself. Typical contents include entree, side dish, crackers, peanut butter/cheese spread, dessert, instant coffee/tea, matches, toilet paper, spoon, and a heater to heat the main entree. While everything in an MRE can be eaten cold, it usually tastes better warm. 

What's inside the package:

• MRE shelf life is 5-10 years!
• NOT FREEZE DRIED! Moisture, gravy and sauces are retained in their natural form.
• MRE are ready to eat right from the pouch at room temperature.
• Can be heated in 5 minutes with boiling water or with our heater pouches.
• Can be eaten cold, right out of the pouch, in emergencies (as they are pre-cooked)
• Specially developed for maximum nutrition (an average of 55% meat compared with 35% normally).

How to use the heater bag:

Simply cut open the top of the FRH polybag sleeve. Place the MRE food portion inside the bag next to the heater. Add plain water to the "Fill Line", and fold the open end of the bag.

In just 12 minutes - enjoy a hot meal anytime, anyplace.

I wasn't able to consume everything in the bag. I only tasted all the big items which are the following:

The Beef Brisket tasted like the Pot Roast I ate at Denny's. It was a bit salty but I liked that there were a lot of big chunks of beef and not much fat. The sauce was super tasty.

The cookie with M&M was a bit powdery dry but I was still able to finish it all. ( I'm the real cookie monster! )

The biscuit tasted like an ordinary stale bread.

I spread a lot of cheese spread on this. Tasted just like an ordinary table cracker.

If I am not mistaken, there are a total of 12 different MRE Menu Meals available. I still have two others that I will probably try next week and will be posting them after. I consciously do not want to eat them continuously everyday for fear that there might be some kind of harmful chemical they mixed in the food or the packing so that the food can last up to 10 years. lol.
