Van Gogh Is Bipolar at Maginhawa Street, Quezon City

Last August 31, Lyn invited all the girls to try this fabulous restaurant she has tried twice before. She raves about how quirky the place is and how fantastic the food they serve. Van Gogh Is Bipolar is located near UP Diliman so it's quite far from where I live but I definitely planned and made it happen to be there! Sadly, Jethro the owner, cook and server left for Europe the following day and he will be back on November. So if you guys want to check his uber cool pad, make reservation on November.

We all had the 5 course meal for P999.

The tiny place was adorned with knick-knacks.

That's Jethro, the proprietor, chef, server and entertainer. He is bipolar.. in a very cool way!

Upon entry, we were asked to put our stuff on our table and get teapots we like at this area.

The restaurant does not have any server so everyone should help themselves. We made our own tea by mixing different dried leaves and condiments from this table and got hot water from the dispenser.

Guess which one was mine?

We were served with this special fruit drink. I'm not really sure what's in it but it tasted wonderful.

Our first course was this tasty boiled turkey with plantains soup. Since it was poultry, I just tried a couple of spoonfuls to taste and it was delicious!

Second course was this potato salad with cream cheese and topped with blueberries?! This was my most favorite dish of the night. I just love anything with cheese and potatoes!

Before the next dish was served, we were asked to wash our hands. This is the bathroom area.

The third course was this fresh salad deconstructed. You make your own salad by getting a piece of the boiled cabbage leaves and place in it some basil, tomatoes, fried anchovies, pineapple bits, salted egg, cashews and drizzle some balsamic vinaigrette.

All the girls loved this because they are all heavy veggie eaters. Yummy!

The fourth course or the main dish was served longer so while waiting we took tons of Instax Pictures!

We also washified them using Washi Tapes! How cute!

The main dish. Most of us got this Fried Salmon Belly with Apple Compote Sauce and Red Rice.

Some got this Lamb Chops with Red Rice.

For dessert, we non-alcoholics got this. At first I didn't know what it was because the place was dark. It tasted like a crunchy fruit topped with thick chocolate syrup and walnuts. I thought I chewed some oats but when i spit it out and put some cellphone light on the plate, we saw the fruit was a watermelon and what I grinded hard were seeds and not oats.

The boys had this shooter for dessert. That's absinthe and maybe vodka in the shooter glass and after gulping it down, you chase it with the dark chocolate and walnuts mixture.

Party Pictures with the gang!

Have A Lovely Day!

    Hi,

Healthline just launched a video campaign for bipolar disorder called "You've Got This" where bipolar patients can record a short video to give hope and inspiration to those recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

You can visit the homepage and check out videos from the campaign here: http://www.healthline.com/health/bipolar-disorder/youve-got-this

We will be donating $10 for every submitted campaign to To Write Love On Her Arms, so the more exposure the campaign gets the more the videos we'll receive and the more Healthline can donate to research, support, and treatment programs for mental health disorders.

We would appreciate if you could help spread the word about this by sharing the You've Got This with friends and followers or include the campaign as a resource on your page: http://misslovelytan.blogspot.com/2013/09/van-gogh-is-bipolar-at-maginhawa-street.html

Please let me know if this is possible and if you have any questions. And, if you know anyone that would be interested in submitting a video, please encourage them to do so.

    Best,
